On July 11, JTBC released an official statement on their homepage. The statement contained an apology for the controversial drama King The Land.

However, it said it had no intention of insulting other cultures. JTBC also realizes that there is a lack of knowledge about other nations’ cultures.

“We would like to express our deep and sincere apologies for causing unnecessary inconvenience to our viewers without full consideration of other’s valuable cultures although we had no intention of caricaturing or distorting any particular country or culture in the process. We are acutely aware that there is a lack of understanding, experience and consideration for other cultures.” wrote a statement from the King The Land production team, reported by My Daily on July 13, 2023.
